It's a Derby teams racing extravaganza this Saturday night at the Robertson Prestige International Speedway, with something to cater for everyone in the family! Add in the Manawatu Adult Ministock Champs, Stockcars, plus an all-in Demolition Derby and it will be a spectacular night!
The Peter Barry Memorial Derby Teams Champs, featuring hard-charging Demolition Derby car teams racing; it’ll be survival of the fittest, fastest and bravest to make it through to the final. Peter Barry was a hard hitting Stockcar driver who sadly passed away in 2009. His humble beginnings in derby-car teams racing are honoured by the annual Peter Barry Memorial Derby Teams Champs, which has steadily grown in popularity!
Each team has five Demolition Derby cars on track at a time, with a skilled driver managing to balance speed, hitting and car conservation to end up on top of the pile at the end of a tough night’s racing. The 8 teams which have confirmed their attendance include Dirty Rottens Inc., Team Geronimo, Terminators, Gladiators, Kemp Electrical, Shake “N” Bake, Team Kaos and defending champions Naki-Bits who are always a formidable team and make the commitment and travel from Taranaki to attend this event. Naki-Bits have successfully won the past three seasons of Peter Barry Derby Teams.
The Manawatu Adult Ministock Champs will also be hotly contested with local drivers 35p Luke Harris, 33p Jono Mouldey, 94p Jack Beynon, and 22p Kris Rassmussen all in with a chance of being on the podium after having a successful season racing, the title is likely to go down to the wire.
Adding to the programme, metal-crunching Stockcars will be battling it out for the chequered flag. Side-by-side and bumper-to-bumper, the drivers are always willing to put on a show for the fans! Minisprints return after an excellent North Island Champs held the week prior with some of the best racing seen by the class this season. Rounding out what is set to be a spectacular night, Streetstocks and to finish the night an all-in Demolition Derby.

Admission prices are $30 for an Adult (16 years and over), $10 for Children aged 8-15, and $70 for a Family pass of 2 adults and up to four children. Kids aged 7 and under are FREE.
Tickets are available to pre-purchase online from www.eventfinda.co.nz, (tickets purchased incur an additional service fee) or on race day from Gate 1 (Waldegrave Street), Gate 2 (Cuba Street - Bridge) and Gate 3 (Cook Street) from 5pm.
Racing starts at 6pm.
