Next Meeting: Queen's Birthday Finale

The Queen’s Birthday weekend speedway extravaganza is almost here, and with one of the most coveted Stockcar championship titles on the line - what a massive weekend it is set to be at the Robertson Prestige International Speedway.

Kicking off on Saturday 4th June at the earlier time of 3pm - the Air Conditioning & Plumbing Ltd Stockcar King of the Arena Qualifying will head a packed afternoon of events. With many drivers indicating their intention to compete from the South Island and around the North Island, this championship is shaping up to be hotly contested. Local drivers are still at the forefront of the favourites to take the ultimate title and the massive $5,000 prizemoney - the largest prize pool on offer during the current season.

The Royal Superstock Stampede complements the Air Conditioning & Plumbing Ltd Stockcar King of the Arena Championship this weekend. Following on from last week’s sensational Manawatu Championship the speed, sound and power of Superstocks racing bumper to bumper for the Royal Stampede will have you on the edge of your seat.

The daredevil Sidecars will be racing side by side for Dowie Contracting Nelson, King of the Arena Sidecar Best Pairs Championship. Held over both Saturday & Sunday nights, fans are to expect fast and thrilling racing, with initial interest suggesting this is one of the biggest and best Sidecar meetings on offer. There’s nothing quite like a quality field of Sidecars duelling to the finish line.

The future of speedway, the Youth Ministock class, will also be competing for their Manawatu Championship. Youth Ministocks have fostered many speedway competitors into other classes, and the skill of these young drivers is something to admire. Local hard-charging drivers 88p Hunter DeRidder, 24p Ashton Dorn and 971p Lewis Ward are all in with a chance of taking the championship title honours. Local cars will be given preference - please register your intention to compete, and any available positions for out of town cars will be filled by ballot from online registrations. The final field will be posted later in the week.

Saloons and Minisprints complete the packed Saturday night event!

Sunday 5th June sees the gears shift, the Grand Finale speedway event for the season and its finals time for the Air Conditioning & Plumbing Ltd King of the Arena Stockcar Championship, also at the earlier start time of 3pm. The Stockcar drivers will have battled it out and earned their place in the top 30 for the Championship, with a last chance repechage and additional consolation Stockcar races held for the drivers who missed out. The battle for this title will be supreme, all tactics will come into play and the best will come out on top!

The Royal Superstock Stampede continues from the Saturday night, with another chance for crucial points to be added to the tallies, a big chance for drivers to make more advancement in the standings and other drivers the chance to close the gap!

The Dowie Contracting Nelson, King of the Arena Sidecar Best Pairs Championship is decided, the racing all boils down to this night - which pair will reign supreme, or will a pair come from behind and take the honours, there’s nothing quite like adrenaline filled Sidecar racing!

The Manawatu Super Saloon Championship is also up for contention, with the popularity of this class increasing and the calibre of driving something to marvel at. A newcomer to the class but a popular speedway driver nonetheless - Peter Bengston will make his Robertson Prestige International Speedway debut in his recently purchased ex-Mark Osborne car! Those big wide tires, and side by side racing is about as good as you can get!

The Manawatu Adult Ministock Champs round out what is a packed programme of events on the Sunday night, plus Historic Stockcars.
