It's the last chance for revenge this Saturday, 10th May at the Robertson Prestige International Speedway with the Grand Finale for 2024/25, and what a season it has been! With the final night deciding the Lucas Oil Superstock Round, Girls vs. Boys Stockcar teams race, Lucas Oil Super Saloon Series, Brent Lowe Stockcar Memorial, Pirtek Feilding Sidecar Best Pairs, plus Fireworks to end the season with a bang!
The familiar sound of Superstocks hitting the dirt is an institution in Palmerston North, and a quality field of these fearless drivers are ready to battle it out for the Lucas Oil Superstock Round. The fast and spectacular racing of Superstocks is certainly the high-octane thrill that you can’t get enough of! The Lucas Oil Superstock 20-lap race will round out the spectacular Superstock racing for the 2024/25 season.
The return of the popular Girls vs Boys Stockcar teams race is always a hotly discussed topic, and is back this season after a hiatus. The 'battle of the sexes' was a close contest at the previous event, and this year it’s hard to pick who the favourite will be. The KB Cowgirls have a strong team which includes Rebecca Barr, Brittany Carpenter, Hailey James, Ella Robertson, and Riki Kauri who should give the Cowboys a run for their money! The Cowboys have an equally strong team to take on the cowgirls with Dion Mooney, Wade Sweeting, Brendon Tye, Trent James, Jordan Dare and Ken Meehan. These teams races are always exciting!
Add in the Brent Lowe Memorial for Stockcars which always provides plenty of action on the track with many local and visiting drivers indicating they are keen to compete for this memorial title. The metal crunching Stockcars always put on a stellar show with more on offer with the incentive of lucrative stirrer prizes to further add to the action. Brent Lowe lived for Stockcar action, and this is a fitting tribute to a former battler in the Stockcar ranks.
The Lowe family have generously added a $2,500 cash pool for this championship with 4 x Stirrers prizes ($300 each) and a special 'Entertainer of the Night' receiving $300. The money will be paid on the night in the Clubrooms following the event, presented by the Lowe family. In addition, the overall winner of the Brent Lowe Memorial will receive $500, 2nd place $300, 3rd place $200. Decisions surrounding these additional prizes will be made by the Lowe family, Bruce Robertson and the commentary team on the night and are final.
The Super Saloons are back for their season finale with the Lucas Oil Series being decided. These V8 engines and distinctive low sportscar bodies, these drivers are impressive racing wheel-to-wheel every lap! The racing is exhilarating from these drivers, including 58p Peter Bengston, 44p Brendan Sharland and visiting drivers including 5b Steve & 6b Grant Flynn from Hawkes Bay will make for some spectacular racing.
Adding to the exciting programme is the Pirtek Feilding Sidecar Best Pairs which will see some of the country’s best Sidecar combinations pair up and battle it out. With 15 combinations confirmed including 5p Wingnut & Sam McNaught, 7p Matt Stewart & Nick Dunne, 89p Wayne & Max Lett all included in the sensational field. The Robertson Prestige International Speedway has seen some spectacular Sidecar racing this season and this best pairs championship is set to deliver high calibre entertainment for the fans once again!
