Elliot Heron won his first major title on December 28th at the Robertson Holden International Speedway with an excellent drive to win the Minisprint Grand Prix. Mike Zachan & Ben Franklin took home the Manawatu Sidecar title, while Daniel Burmeister was victorious in the Brent Lowe Memorial Mayhem for Stockcars.
NZ Minisprint Grand Prix
A 17-car field took part in a pair of reverse grid heats to determine starting positions for a 25-lap Grand Prix final race. First heat winner 8p Nathan Jefferies took a tumble in the second outing which was won by 82s Cameron Hurley. 2nzp Shane Dewar was top qualifier with 29 points, starting alongside 72p Elliot Heron who accumulated 26. Elliot got the better start and was chased the whole way by the meeting favourite Dewar, but Elliot held on and took an excellent victory. 53v Dylan Smith rounded out the podium with a good performance after starting mid-pack.
